The Beginning of the End...

I've waited a long time to start this... always thought that writing everything down and making a permanent record of the experience would jinx us.  But now I know we were already jinxed before we were even aware that this journey had begun.  So, at this point, detailing everything that has happened might be cathartic for me, and may also help someone else who is just beginning their trip down this road.
